The Galaxy Y smartphone is the latest low-end smartphone from the Korean company. Featuring a smaller, lower-resolution display than higher-end models, the Galaxy Y will target young users and emerging markets.

The Galaxy Y is a traditional slate-style smartphone, and it lacks a physical keyboard. It has a small, 3-inch, QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) display, and is powered by an 832MHz processor. A 2 megapixel camera takes care of photo duties, and the Galaxy Y has support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.

Samsung has installed Android 2.3 Gingerbread with its custom TouchWiz interface on the Galaxy Y. It also includes Samsung's Social Hub for social networking purposes, and the Swype on-screen keyboard for easy text input. Other details are scant at this time, but we should learn more when the Galaxy Y hits the market in the near future.

The Galaxy Y measures 104mm x 58mm x 11.5mm (4.09in x 2.28in x 0.45in), and weighs 97.5g (3.44oz). It has 160MB of internal storage. It also supports microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. It is powered by a 1,200mAh battery that provides up to 5 hours of talk time.
